BBEC - Apprentice

Department: Commercial Construction
Location: Mechanicsburg, PA

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Small tools and equipment case
  • Material handling and organizing
  • Keeps work area clean
  • Assist in wire pulls
  • Mounting and strapping
  • Understand safety requirements

MINIMUM / PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Must attend 576 hours of classroom instruction and maintain a minimum passing grade of 70
  • Must complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training
  • Positively identify colors of wires
  • Comprehends reading and drawing prints and schematics of same
  • Bend conduit by hand with hand benders
  • Must use all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches
  • Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment
  • Practices and comprehends safe work procedures as outlined in the Safety Policy
  • Read and interpret maps, instruction manuals, specifications, work site directions, blueprints and written instructions.
  • Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electrical or gas powered)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and regularly sit, stand and walk
  • Work from all types of ladders
  • Job requires employee to have required personal tools with them at all times
  • Able to work eight (8) hour days, forty (40) hour weeks and overtime as required plus night shift if applicable
